What does it take a new job in these recession times? A lot of effort writing covering letters and sending off CVs to potential employers for most people.
Or alternatively you could embrace a little clever thinking.
Take for example US-based copywriter/director, Alec Brownstein. He decided to take advantage of the fact that people like to Google themselves and bought up Google keywords for a number of leading advertising figures.
Names he targeted included David Droga, Tony Granger, Gerry Graf, Ian Reichenthal and Scott Vitrone.
When vanity got the better them and they Googled themselves a message from Brownstein asking for a job ranked as top search result.
Costing just 10 cents a click, for the grand total of $6, Brownstein secured four interviews and consequently landed a job at Y&R, won while generating some PR.
What’s to learn? Well, its another great example of knowing your audience.
